Human Resource Director

Alaska Executive Search has been retained by First National Bank Alaska to seek a senior Human Resource professional who will work directly with the Bank’s Vice Chair and will report to the General Counsel and Senior Vice President of the Corporate Systems Division. This HR Director position is critical to the strategic operation of the bank, which has recently repositioned its management team and will be instrumental in helping the Bank’s Vice Chair and General Counsel lead the organization’s future business strategies. The successful candidate will possess SPHR designation, banking experience and will ideally be a JD whose practice focuses on employment law.

Position Requirements

The successful candidate will have senior level experience within the banking industry and demonstrate strategic HRM planning and forecasting of a bank’s future human capital needs. Successful attributes include (a) building and empowering teams; (b) ensuring extensive development and training programs; (c) creating and managing a high performance, yet culturally sensitive and supportive culture; (d) designing a comprehensive compensation system that rewards desired performance, and (e) budgeting to support the company’s business strategy.

Education/Experience

Banking Experience is required. A JD whose practice focuses on employment law is highly desired. All other candidates must minimally possess a Bachelor’s Degree in business, personnel management or related field, or an MBA requiring eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in an HR function; or 12 years of progressively responsible experience in an HR function; or equivalent combination of education and experience. SPHR is required. SPHR is waived for JD candidates. Working knowledge of current Salary Administration, Benefits, Payroll, Recruiting, Training and Employee Relations regulations and practices is required.

Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated experience with the implementation and administration of an HRIS is desired; implementation or administration of ExponentHR is highly preferred; word processing and spreadsheet software experience is required.
