Chief Executive Officer
BLOOD BANK OF ALASKA
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Do you describe yourself as visionary, strategic and able to shape the future of a company? Do you lead with integrity and possess the character to unleash the energy of your colleagues? If yes, you may be ready to serve as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Blood Bank of Alaska (BBA), a mission-driven organization that provides statewide, life-saving services in Alaska. BBA is seeking a CEO who has demonstrated experience carrying out an organization’s strategic plans and policies, overseeing a major capital campaign, and leading creative organizational change.
Blood Bank of Alaska Overview
Founded in 1962, the Blood Bank of Alaska’s primary purpose is to supply Alaska’s blood needs for the sick and injured. As the State has grown, so has the demand for available blood products, which projects at over 25,000 units per year. In a state with 571,951 square miles of land, more than double the size of Texas, and few road systems connecting its cities and towns, challenges abound to keep pace with the demands of providing 24-hour service to over 24 Alaska hospitals. Today, the BBA is governed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors, representing community leaders in various fields such as health care, business, finance, legal and civic service, and whose vision includes a capital campaign to raise private funds for the construction of a new blood center.
The Blood Bank of Alaska is licensed by the Food and Drug Administration and is inspected and accredited by the AABB for its CLIA Certificate of Accreditation. It is also a member of America’s Blood Centers and a charter member of the Pacific Northwest Alliance of Blood Banks.
